Hybrid Humpday - Capture the Moments 2010

I wanted to share with you a cute mini album I made with Memory Keeper, an awesome new kit coming to Jennifer's store tomorrow (Thursday, Dec. 2nd). The mini album is one picture a month of my daughter. I of course have to wait for the December picture but once that one is added I think a few of my family members may get these along with their Christmas packages.

Here are a couple of photos of the finished project.

To make this album I took a 12"x12" sheet of cardstock (this is Stampin' Up! but any heave cardstock will work). I then cut the cardstock into four 3"x12" strips, and then scored each strip at 3" intervals.
I then adhered the first two strips together making sure that the folds ended up opposite each other to continue the accordion fold.

Repeat with the other two strips. You will end up with a long continuous accordion like this.

Next cut the very last 3 inch square off of the final strip (you can do this before you attach the last strip to make it easier). Then cut that square in half so you end up with a 3"x1.5" strip of the cardstock. Score length wise 1/2" from each side. Adhere to the spine of your album by placing adhesive on the outside edges but making sure to leave the center plain. Terrifically Tacky Tape would be the best choice here but I used photo splits since they were handy.

This is what your album will look like one you have the spine glued in place (sorry for the fuzzy picture).

I created front and back covers using Jennifer's kit and then selected photos from each month. I made each photo and the covers 2.85" because I wanted the photos to be a tad bit smaller than the album pages (at this size you can fit 6 photos per page, so with front and back cover that is 3 sheets with lots of room to spare on the 3rd sheet). I then printed the pages out on matte presentation paper but photo paper would work just as well.

I used my paper trimmer and cut out each of the photos and then adhered them to each page in order.

I think I ended up with a really cute mini album that shows a little bit about what my daughter's interests were this past year and shows a little glimpse of her life. Another way you can use this format is to create an album to put in your purse that shows some of your favorite layouts (albeit at a much smaller scale than normal).

I had such a fun time creating this album. I really hope that this post inspires you to make your own mini album of memories.
